Real SAP expertise powers Otto Bikes
in4MD Service GmbH is a passionate SAP service provider. This passion is also reflected in Otto Bikes, our SAP training package, which greatly simplifies the understanding of SAP S/4HANA interrelationships. The fictional model company with realistic datasets is complemented by professional training materials and, if desired, accompanying trainings. Otto Bikes was developed for everyone who truly wants to understand SAP.
Why bicycles?
SAP is complex and can therefore quickly feel overwhelming for many users and SAP beginners. That’s why, when choosing the model product, we deliberately opted for a globally recognized product: the bicycle – with saddle, handlebars, frame, and wheels. Everyone knows it; no lengthy explanations are needed. This may sound simple at first, but it makes a big difference when it comes to illustrating complex SAP processes.
Anyone familiar with SAP’s earlier IDES model company knows that things can be different. IDES simulated an international corporation with countless subsidiaries, currencies, and markets. Impressive, but also a lot of input at once when the goal is simply to understand basic business processes. Otto Bikes takes the opposite approach on purpose. It focuses on best-practice processes, is clearly structured, and avoids unnecessary complexity. Our slogan “makes IT easy” describes our mission: to make SAP as understandable as possible, because we know from our own experience how challenging it can be to get started.
The name
Magdeburg has been known for several years as the “Otto city,” a reference to two influential historical figures: Otto the Great, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, and Otto von Guericke, jurist, inventor, and diplomat. Both men have left a lasting mark on the city.
For us, the name was a natural choice. Rooted in Magdeburg, built by people from Magdeburg, designed for the SAP world. And so the circle closes: Otto von Guericke was known for making complicated things easy to understand. In his most famous experiment with the Magdeburg hemispheres, he even made “nothing” visible – Otto Bikes makes SAP visible.
Who is behind it?
Otto Bikes was developed by in4MD Service GmbH, which was founded in 2018 as a spin-off from the SAP University Competence Center Magdeburg and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. Since then, we have supported companies from the SME sector, the public sector, and social institutions – from SAP consulting and development to operations and training. In 2021, Otto Bikes joined our portfolio as our own training environment, which has since been used by customers in Germany and beyond.
Our employees are mainly computer scientists and business informatics specialists who have learned SAP from the ground up and work with it every day. That’s why we don’t provide theory-based consulting, but hands-on expertise that flows into every training session.
